Amazon.com Product Description

The Blast multitool's compact folded shape measures just 4 inches long.
The Full-Sized Blast Multitool from Leatherman

Loaded with the most requested features, the Leatherman Blast is ready for work. Longer blades mean easier slicing, sawing, filing and more, while the Zytel handle inserts provide a comfortable, reliable grip. And in this model, new designs for the handles and pliers help the Blast sustain more than double the squeezing load of the original PST. This multitool set includes all the handy, flip and fold-out tools you'd expect from an industry-leading brand -- all with 100-percent stainless steel construction, manufactured to the optimum grade hardness for each tool. The Blast boasts an open-tooth saw design that allows easy starting and cutting on the fly, plus long wire cutters for a lengthy reach. These pliers are especially designed for a large squeezing load, with a unique jaw design that adds durability.

Multitool Capabilities:

  • Needlenose pliers
  • Regular pliers
  • Wire cutters
  • Hard-wire cutters
  • Clip-point knife
  • Wood/metal file
  • Saw
  • Scissors
  • Large screwdriver
  • Small screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Small bit driver
  • Ruler (8 inch/19 cm)
  • Bottle/can opener
  • Wire stripper
  • Lanyard attachment
  • One double-ended bit

To expand your Blast's functionality, try adding the removable bit driver or the universal tool adapter (both sold separately)

The Blast comes with one double-ended screwdriving bit.
Key User Features

The Blast features all-locking blades. To release the interior blades, all you have to do is press the grooved portion of the push-lock button and carefully rotate the blade. The regular and hard-wire cutters are located within the plier jaws, and the straight knife blades may be easily sharpened using standard sharpening methods.

To access the interior features of the Blast, just grip the handles and swing them open. Each interior blade can be opened using the nail nicks, and so can the scissors. When the scissors are fully extended, they lock securely into place for safety and ease of use.

Optional Accessories (not included)

The Removable Bit Driver Accessory is sold separately, and makes a great addition to the Blast multitool. This removable bit driver works by installing right on top of the integrated Phillips screwdriver blade. You can also add the Universal Tool Adapter to your Blast arsenal. This adapter is a standard 1/4-inch hex drive that locks in three positions.

Warranty

All Leatherman products are covered by a 25-year limited warranty. If within 25 years from the purchase date of your genuine Leatherman tool you find any defect in material or workmanship, you can count on the manufacturer to make it right with fast warranty service. Depending on the tool defect, they will decide whether to repair your tool or replace it with a product of equal or greater value. No variations, upgrades or refunds are offered.

The Leatherman Tool Group and its History of Quality

In 1975, Leatherman Tool Group founder Tim Leatherman was inspired by leaky pipes and a cranky car on a budget trip to Europe -- and thus the idea for his first pocket survival tool was conceived. Since then, Leatherman has become an internationally recognized company with hundreds of employees and a wide variety of durable, versatile, stylish products. Created with bold designs and truly rugged construction, Leatherman products are a perfect addition for tool kits, emergency sets, and glove compartments everywhere.

5 out of 5 stars another awesome tool   June 30, 2010
JB (MI, USA)
This is the second Leatherman I have handled, and it is just as god as the first (earlier model). I have had a lot of junk multi-tools over the years but not a single one can even come close to comparing to the quality that Leatherman has shown.

This model might be a tad large for everyday carrying with the holster but still very durable and has potential for daily usage. If you're looking for a smaller model, you might want to check out one of the Juice ones (they're also a bit cheaper).

5 out of 5, will take on just about any job and will last a LONG time

5 out of 5 stars Got one, got another one for my dad!   June 14, 2010

My son is a Boy Scout and he bought his Leatherman Blast first for himself and now we bought it for his dad for Father's Day. He is using this multitool all the time. It really comes handy in many occasions. He seems to prefer the full size to a smaller unit. It gives him better grip and stronger feeling.

This product is handy for just about anything. My husband loves it and carries it with him wherever he goes.

5 out of 5 stars the best multitool   May 31, 2010

The leatherman blast is the best multitool currently available. I buy a new one every july after my performance review at work, but i am still using the first one i bought around the house. It is compact, lightweight, durable and full of features. It basically has the same tools as the wave, but i find it more durable and as another reviewer said, the longer fixed blade screwdrivers are far superior for real use.

I saw some complaints about the locking mechanism, but to be honest ive been using my blast as a small hammer here and there for years and i have never broken one. The only maintenance ive ever done was straightening the plier head a little bit so the wire cutters wouldn't drag after using the cutter to cut metal weatherstripping.

I use this tool many times a day, every day. It's been so useful to me that if it was $500 i'd still buy one(although not one EVERY year). Buy one and you wont be disappointed, you'll find every feature useful from the ruler to the saw.

1 out of 5 stars not what they were   May 19, 2010

Bought it on a trip as had left my older one behind.

Used the saw on a small piece of wood and the heat generated left it so warped it wouldn't close.

Then the lock dropped off.

Throw it in in the bin and look for an old one on ebay.
