Amazon.com Review This well-designed planer offers fast stock removal and the smoothest finish--exactly what we expected from Bosch. The powerful 6.5 amp motor runs the versatile two-blade Woodrazor system at 16,500 rpm with a protective shield that covers the section of blade that's not in use. The fence itself deserves applause--bevels are accurate and easy to adjust. We love the chip ejection as well. Too many times, we've tried tools with an exhaust system that might as well not be there, but this one actually moves the removed stock and it's multidirectional! Deep cuts are possible in just one pass without bogging or chatter. There's even a spring-loaded park rest stand that protects blade and workpiece. The saw is a special shape that allows easy start-up in the middle of a workpiece. Accidental starts are a thing of the past because of the lock-off release button. Bosch thought of everything; we're impressed. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Little Monster March 10, 2010 Just a guy from NJ It removes a tremendous amount of material very quickly. Have the work firmly held in place and use both hands in a fluid motion -- there is really no way around that. You will also need a lot of space to work the tool and a strategy on how to tackle your particular project. Take light passes. Woods with a lot of moisture may clog it, if that happens try slowing your feed rate. Get very familiar with how it enters and leaves the material before using it on your project. If you get distracted you will have a very large amount of material removed from a place you did not mean to. Once you get used to it, it is a very rewarding and very productive tool. Have fun!
bosch planer -reconditioned December 1, 2009 Mark S. Speirs (south dakota) this reconditioned Bosch planer is easily just like new. I saved money and the service was great. I would not hesitate to buy from this company again
Great Remodeling Tool October 27, 2009 T. Wells (Sacramento, CA) I bought this planer for a slightly different reason than others have. I am in the middle of a remodel project that is enclosing what used to be exterior space under our main living level on our house and the underside is supported with heavy timber that has been painted for over 30 years. I had tried orbital and belt sanders but that would have taken weeks to strip the paint. I used the planer to shave off the paint and smooth out the knots and checks. The timbers are all 10 inches wide so it took several passes on each surface, but the Bosh did the work in hours what would have taken weeks. The timbers are now enclosed indoors so I really appreciated the ability to hook it up to a large shop vac to collect the chippings. Using the dust bag only left a mess. With a vacuum there was almost nothing to clean up afterwards.
The adjustments for the tool were easy. I generally planed 1/32nd of an inch off and switched up for some knotted or checked areas. The adjustments could be made on the fly. The tool never bogged down, never overheated and completed the job with the blades still sharp (I had expected to loose the set on unseen nails, but I managed to avoid them). The tool did leave tool marks where several passes went by each other, but they were not too deep to easily remove with an orbital sander. The finished product is shaping up great.
As a bonus, I will now have that planer for use while doing my finish carpentry and other projects.
Piece of junk October 20, 2009 Peter Headland (San Mateo, CA United States) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Nice design, but the unit I got had too many problems, which rendered it unusable:
1. The fence wouldn't go to 90 degrees.
2. When set to zero it still cut about 1/64".
3. The moving part of the sole was angled relative to the fixed part.
This is inexcusably shoddy for a tool at this price and with the Bosch name on it.

bosch planer model 1594k with bevel cutting guide is great. very quiet, smooth cutting, and 95% of dust stays in bag. only problem is that the guide should be made of white plastic as to not scratch the work your cutting. using painters tape on guide works okay for about 2-3 passes and then you have to redo it. can't use any tape which will leave residue once you remove it. overall tool performs great and has all the power you need. just be carefull you don't hit a screw/nail. comes in good carrying case also. ordering from amazon.com was simple and great also. rob k
